Bhandardara Dam ( Wilson Dam) in Akole taluka has been built during British rule in India.Bhandardara Dam is the main water reserve for Akole taluka's lifeline river Pravara.
Bhandardara is located in very beautiful place in Sahyadri mountains lines which is close from Nashik and Mumbai cities.
Which make Bhandardara Dam ( Wilson Dam) popular tourist place in all seasons.


Main Attractions -
  • Main Water reserve - Bhandardara has huge water reserve and it is surrounded by beautiful Sahyadri mountains lines.
  • Umbrella Fall - When the water is released from 200 ft Bhandardara dam main reserve to Pravara river, first it falls on the rocky crags, it sprinkle water same as an umbrella. Which gives the magnificent view of Umbrella fall for all the tourists.
  • Randha Fall - Randha fall is a scenic waterfall on Pravara river which is around 9KM from Bhandardara main reserve.
  • Garden - At the Bhandardara Dam the rever side garden at the foot of dam walls is one of the main attractions for tourist.
  • Boating - In the Bhandardara Dam main water reserve the boating is allowed to explore the dams all side scenic natural beauty.

2. Nilwande Dam

Nilwande Dam also called Upper Pravara Dam is Build on River Pravara in Village Nilwande in Akole Taluka.
Due to huge rainfall in Bhandardara backwater region, Bandaradara Dam always overflows during monsoon and lot of water was wasted due to lack of proper reserve dam. Which lead foundation of Nilwande Dam.
Construction of Nilwande Dam started in 1999. After a lot of public opposition & delays, Construction of Nilwande completed in 2011.
The height of the dam above lowest foundation is 73.91 m (242.5 ft) while the length is 583 m (1,913 ft).
